With hearts heavy with sorrow, we mourn the passing of Sawyer Jayden Smith, a bright and cherished 13-year-old of Ashland, who left this world far too soon on March 30th. Though his time with us was brief, Sawyer’s life was full of love, joy, and moments that will be treasured forever by all who knew him.
Born on December 28, 2012, in Pottsville, Sawyer was the beloved son of Siena and Joseph Smith. He brought immense happiness to his family, sharing a special bond through adventures and travels. Curious and energetic, Sawyer delighted in exploring the world, creating lasting memories along the way.
A 7th-grade student at North Schuylkill Middle School and formerly of Assumption BVM, Sawyer was known for his determination, team spirit, and positivity. An active member of the wrestling and soccer teams, he displayed perseverance, dedication, and sportsmanship that inspired his teammates and coaches alike.
At home, Sawyer’s heart was devoted to his family and his two Dobermans. He shared close, loving connections with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. His gentle spirit, laughter, and kindness brought warmth to every gathering, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Sawyer was also a member of Christ’s United Church in Ashland, where he found community and faith. Though his life was far too short, his pure heart, love for others, and joyful spirit will never be forgotten.
