Authorities report that deputies were called to a home on Independence Street near Highway 494 in the Vienna Bend area around 11:15 p.m., where they found Lewis suffering from critical gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital and later airlifted to a facility in Shreveport, where he passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning at approximately 2:50 a.m. His death marks the first recorded homicide in the parish this year.

Investigators say those responsible fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. Evidence collected includes multiple shell casings and signs that gunfire struck the residence.
